Purpose

Resolutions & Position Statements

Resolutions on issues involving conservation and management of wild sheep and mountain goats are received by the chair of the Executive Committee before the biennial meeting. The Executive Committee reviews all resolutions, and presents them with recommendations at the business meeting. Resolutions are adopted by a plurality vote. The Executive Committee may also adopt resolutions on behalf of the Council between symposia.

Beginning in February 2022, the Northern Wild Sheep and Goat Council began work on a Position Statement on the Impacts of Climate Change on Mountain Goats and Their Habitats. Over a 10-month timeframe, with Kevin White of Alaska as the lead author, more than 15 NWSGC professionals collaborated to produce and finalize this Position Statement, formally approved by the NWSGC membership in December 2022. Our collective thanks to all those who worked on this, and all who contributed to and supported this effort. It is our collective hope that management of mountain goats and their habitats will benefit from this Position Statement.
