Purpose

Resolutions & Position Statements

Resolutions on issues involving conservation and management of wild sheep and mountain goats are received by the chair of the Executive Committee before the biennial meeting. The Executive Committee reviews all resolutions, and presents them with recommendations at the business meeting. Resolutions are adopted by a plurality vote. The Executive Committee may also adopt resolutions on behalf of the Council between symposia.

During our November 3-5, 2020 Biennial Symposium (held virtually, via ZOOM), the Northern Wild Sheep and Goat Council unanimously approved and adopted a revised, updated Position Statement, superseding our published/posted 2004 Position Statement. Over the past year, more than 2 dozen wildlife professionals, from multiple states, provinces, and territories contributed to this revision/update; our collective thanks to all those who worked on this, and all who supported this effort. We hope that management of mountain goats and the habitats they occupy will benefit from these recommendations.
